Molly’s Suds – An Eco-Friendly Alternative to Conventional Laundry Detergent

Molly’s Suds – An Eco-Friendly Alternative to Conventional Laundry Detergent

Inspired by the tragic loss of her newborn daughter, founder Monica Leonard created Molly’s Suds to provide products that would be safe for the environment as well as the tiniest family member. Read more about their story here.

Because of the alarming number of toxic chemicals that are approved for use, yet are untested for safety by the U.S. government, Monica made the decision to create a laundry powder as well as other household products that would be free from any harmful ingredients.

You won’t find any Synthetic Fragrances, Dyes, Optical Brighteners, Nonylphenol Ethoxylates, Petrochemicals, Phosphates, 1,4 Dioxane, Formaldehyde, Fillers, Anti-caking Agents, Bleach, Chlorine, Carcinogens, GMOs, Gluten, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), or Preservatives in their formulations!

Since I am extremely sensitive to certain scents and ingredients found in conventional laundry detergents, my husband, Josh and I have been trying various cleaner, more eco-friendly versions. When Molly’s Suds reached out to see if I’d like to try their laundry powder, I was only too happy to oblige!

They sent two sample packs and since my hubs took over laundry duty when we got married, I’m mostly going by his thoughts on the product, with my own two cents thrown in of course! 🙂

So, how does it work?

While the Molly’s Suds cleaned as well as any other detergent we’ve tried, according to Josh, what we both really liked was the smell – a very fresh, clean, minty scent thanks to organic peppermint oil that wasn’t overpowering. We also liked that the ingredients used in this laundry powder are non-irritating, as other detergents we’ve used in the past have made both of our skin itchy! And it works great in all water temperatures and hard water, and is septic- and High Efficiency (HE) washer-safe!

What’s in it?

Sodium carbonate sourced from the Green River Basin in Wyoming, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate), unrefined sea salt, and Organic (Arvensis) peppermint oil.

How much do you need to use?

It’s super concentrated, so only one tablespoon per load is needed.

Final thoughts:

I think that Molly’s Suds is just as good as conventional brands as far as cleaning power goes, but smells better (no synthetic fragrance) and gives more bang for your buck, making this an affordable natural alternative to the popular brands.

Have you guys ever tried Molly’s Suds? What are your thoughts? Let me know!
